Diagnostic Consultations

Prior to beginning regularly scheduled therapy sessions, it is important to discuss the issues specific to your student. A consultation allows time to provide diagnostic screenings of letter names, letter sounds, letter symbols, reading accuracy, reading fluency, phonemic awareness, and more.  After the screening, we will discuss if and how I might be able to help address the needs of your student and family. We will also discuss the strengths and talents of your student. This time is also great to discuss any questions you might have. 

Structured Literacy Interventions

The components of structured literacy are critical for developing strong readers! Structured literacy is instruction that is explicit, systematic, cumulative, and multisensory. When phonetic skills are explicitly taught in a multisensory format in an intentional pattern that is consistently reviewed all students benefit! This is the core of reading instruction!

Services are described below based on the typical age ranges seen in a school setting. Please note, that based on the academic needs of your student will determine where services begin. Every session spent with your child will be personalized to their reading success. 

Also note, that learning to read is a time-consuming and complex neural process. Each session will push forward as fast as we can, but as slow as we must for student success. 

Pre-School Level Intervention/Dyslexia Therapy

This level of intervention focuses on the primary aspects of developing reading readiness. Every 45-minute session is tailored to the student's developmental needs of Phonemic Awareness, Letter Names, and Letter Sounds. Consistent repetition of the development of these skills prepares students for reading success.

Elementary-Level Intervention/Dyslexia Therapy

Reading tasks require significant communication in the brain! Every aspect of reading is located in entirely different parts of the brain. Elementary-Level Intervention explicitly develops the Angular-Gyrus (in the brain) where neuro-pathways are developed between letter names, letter sounds, and letter symbols. Each aspect is explicitly taught in a multisensory fashion creating strong neural pathways for reading. Each 45-minute session is geared towards individual students' needs in developing reading accuracy and reading fluency.

Secondary-Level Intervention/Dyslexia Therapy

Even students in middle school and high school struggle with reading. Even older students need to spend time developing neural pathways for reading. When those foundational reading issues are addressed, older students see success in reading accuracy and reading fluency. Celebrating an improvement in the number of words a student can read in one minute is the best accomplishment for both themselves and myself! Every 45-minute session works towards developing reading success!

Pricing

All service prices listed below are the current rates for new clients. 

Diagnostic Screening Consultation                $150 for a 90-minute session per student

Structured Literacy Interventions                   $45 per 45-minute session per student

Interventions are recommended at a minimum of twice per week, based on availability.
